A garage, a drum roaster, and a stubborn idea
Rio Grande Roastery started in 2021 with a secondhand 5 kg drum roaster and the belief that Albuquerque deserved coffee roasted here, not shipped stale from a warehouse two time zones away. Today we roast three days a week for cafes, offices, and a few hundred households across the city.
We keep the operation small on purpose. Small enough to know our farmers by name, to cup every roast before it ships, and to answer the phone ourselves.
